“Finding Business and Solving Problems for U.S. Companies Internationally  

The US Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration U.S. Commercial Service helps U.S. companies plan, develop and execute international sales strategies necessary to succeed in today’s global marketplace. They help connect to foreign governments to solve non-tariff trade barrier issues, discuss regulations and standards to make for an even playing field on behalf of U.S. companies and business associations. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration collaborates with 19 U.S. Government agencies to bring you Export.gov. We can act locally in your city in the U.S. to help you navigate the maze of government offices and/or through our trade portal get answers to your questions, provide a single source for tools, assistance, and expert knowledge to expand your company’s international sales.

Brendan Kelly, CGBP, Senior International Trade Specialist/ U.S. Commercial Service Houston, U.S. Department of Commerce| International Trade Administration 

Brendan Kelly is a Senior International Trade Specialist and began his career with the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Commercial Service in Cincinnati in 1999 before moving to Houston in 2003, where he serves now covering primarily the oil and gas and energy industries.  He has organized trade missions to Germany and Japan to promote wood products, and also missions to promote ICT equipment and software and accompanied the delegations in 2006-2008.  He served from 1997 to 1999 in Siberia at the University of Northern Kazakhstan in Kazakhstan as a university teacher on assignment.

In addition to earning degrees from the University of South Carolina and the University of Pittsburgh, Brendan also studied at the University of Freiburg in Germany.  Brendan has lived in France and Australia and Kazakhstan in addition to traveling widely and has learned French, German and Russian.

Location & Parking:

Grand Hall in the Rice Ley Student Center

Detailed campus maps are available on the web at http://www.rice.edu/maps/. The Ley Student Center is located in the central part of Rice campus. The Central Campus Garage, which is the closest parking facility, is located to the across the street from the Student Center.

In the possibility the underground parking is full, the second closest parking is the West Lot. Continue down the Laboratory Loop Road to the stop sign. The campus also offers a bus shuttle that runs about every 15 minutes as it loops the campus.

This Roundtable qualifies for one (1) Professional Development Hour (PDH). Your email confirmation at completion of registration serves as your PDH and payment receipts. Paper receipts may be picked up at the registration desk at time of check-in.
