The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed how companies do business, and the engineering and construction industry has not been immune to the impact of this global health crisis. This impact extends not only to how we manage current project delivery risk but how we may evaluate risk on future projects. While modular construction is not a new concept; what used to be a project delivery “Alternative” is now evolving into what could be an “Essential” delivery component to mitigate project execution risk during a pandemic.

This presentation will look at the impact COVID-19 is having on the engineering and construction industry as a whole and discuss the key advantages modular construction can offer Owners in the context of mitigating project delivery challenges during an ongoing pandemic. The speakers will share what they are hearing from both their clients and peers alike as well as discuss current project lessons learned which have enabled them to manage project risks such as workforce exposure to infection, supply chain management, cost escalation, schedule delays, contractual risk as well as mitigating community spread.

Join Mauricio Villegas, Business Development Manager at Koch Modular Process Systems, as he shares his perspective and project examples regarding managing project delivery risk during the COVID-19 pandemic and lessons learned to be carried forward in how we evaluate future project execution risk in the “New Normal”.

Joining Mauricio is Chris Loftus, a 12-year Koch Modular veteran, Chemical Engineer and current Project Manager. He will share first-hand experience managing project delivery risk and how a modular delivery model has enabled him to manage unforeseen COVID-19 delivery risk and continue to successfully deliver projects through uncertainty.
