Topic:

“Lowering Risk and Improving Performance for the Construction Supply Chain”

Most capital projects are delivered above budget, beyond schedule, and below par. The construction industry is trapped in a cycle of low margins, low investment, and dysfunctional relationships. Operating System 2.0 (OS2), led by the Construction Industry Institute (CII) and the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT), is an innovative business model intended to transform the construction industry, delivering significant improvement in value for all project participants.

One area that OS2 will fix is the dysfunction that exists with prevailing contracting models and disparate systems across company boundaries, which limit the movement of information and harden distrust. The good news is that smart contracts, combined with distributed ledger technology (Blockchain), already are making headway in improving historical inefficiencies by solving fundamental problems. This presentation will explore how the intersection of these technologies within a healthier ecosystem are on the verge of revolutionizing many aspects of the capital projects delivery process.
